Trackstar
Trackstar is a site that teachers have used to create a 'guided tour' of the Internet on a specific topic. The website will open up in a small window and there will be an accompanying question or two for students to answer. It is a fantastic site for lab days, and offers a wide variety of topics- including many Native American tracks.

Bellwork
I start off each class with a Bellwork- which in the past has been a review question or a journal response. So far this year, my Bellwork has been Election topics, and now that it is over I am going to do a Bellwork unit on American Indians. I have chosen to focus on the Navajo tribe and as part of this unit I am reading aloud Codetalkers by Joseph Bruchac.
I have created all my Bellwork slides on Smartboard- and have included video clips, music clips, podcasts, images, and literature focused questions.

Columbus Day?

Rethinking Columbus is a fantastic resource to study a variety of perspectives on Columbus Day. It is not appropriate to simply study this holiday from one perspective- it is important to include the Taino perspective as well.
This is a great website to use for resources. Rethinking Columbus
